Art 1: DEFINITION
The VELO MAGAZINE - ETAPE DU TOUR is a road cycle race with individual
timing taking place on Monday July 22, 2002 on the itinerary of
the 17th stage of the TOUR DE FRANCE:
"AIME
- CLUSE"
and shall follow its course.
The race is organised by VELO MAGAZINE under the aegis of the association
"Friends of the Tour de France", organiser of the professional TOUR
DE FRANCE.
It is part of the F.F.C calendar of events and is open to members
and non-members.
Art 2:
The race is open to member and non-member cyclists and amateur racing
cyclists aged at least 18 during the year (born before 01/01/1984).
"Competition" members must send in with their application a photocopy
of their membership for 2002.
Other competitors (FFCT members and non-members) must supply the
original or a photocopy of a doctor's certificate stating that they
are "fit to take part in cycle races" no more than 3 months old
on the date of application.
Competitors under age
must provide parental consent.
Art 3: APPLICATIONS
The different information and application forms will be printed
in VELO MAGAZINE from now on until July 2002.
Application forms should be completed in full and
sent to VELO MAGAZINE ETAPE DU TOUR. Confirmation will be sent in
return with the race number that will be needed to collect the latter
on the day.
Applications remain the property of the organisers
and fees shall not be refunded for any reason whatsoever.
Applications
are strictly personal.
They can, under no circumstances, be transferred to another person
without prior consent from the organisers, and any persons attempting
to do so shall be excluded definitively from the Vélo Magazine Etape
du Tour.
Art 4: APPLICATION FEES
The application fees of 31€ for F.F.C. members, 32€ for
others and 46€ for competitors residing abroad includes, besides
the different services, individual accident insurance.
Cheques should be made
out to "S.N.C. L'EQUIPE".
Art 5: COLLECTING YOUR
NUMBER
Numbers should be collected at the "Host Village" on Saturday 20
July from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 21 July from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.,
by presenting your entry confirmation and some form of ID.
No numbers will be sent
by post. Each participant must come to collect his number in person.
Art 6: SAFETY AT THE RACE
The race will benefit from special safety measures with police motorcycles,
civil motorcycles and protection at all crossroads until the "sag
wagons" and two "End of Race" vehicles have passed.
Private
cars shall be strictly prohibited from following the race.
The Gendarmerie and Police shall provide Road safety.
Physicians and the Red Cross shall provide medical services. The
latter may take competitors out of the race for medical reasons.
Any competitors overtaken by the "End of Race" vehicles at any point
on the itinerary shall be excluded and must leave the race.
All competitors must wear
a hard helmet and keep it during the entire race.
Art 7: INSURANCE
INSURANCE CIVIL LIABILITY
All participants officially entering the competition are covered
by civil liability insurance. Hence, should they cause an accident
and injure or harm third parties, all damages shall be covered by
our insurance company. This insurance covers participants from the
starting line to the finishing line.
PHYSICAL INJURY INSURANCE
F.F.C members are covered by physical injury insurance.
For all other participants, we shall take out a policy insuring
for physical injuries occurring during their
"active participation in our event".
For this reason, we ask F.F.C.T. members and non-members
to have a physician fill in the appropriate part of the application
form, with the date, signature and physician's stamp.
MATERIAL DAMAGE INSURANCE
Our insurance contract does not cover any damage to the competitor's
cycle or equipment in the event of a fall or theft. It is therefore
up to the participant to take out insurance covering material damages.
LIABILITY
Competitors acknowledge that the organisers shall not be held responsible
for personal objects lost or stolen.
All participants of the Vélo Magazine Etape du Tour agree to allow
the race organisers to record and film, in part or in full, his
participation in the event (photos, televised films, radio reports,
video tapes), and to use them for publicity or commercial-type promotions,
and that they shall not be liable to pay any fees whatsoever to
the participant.
Art 8: TIMING
Timing will be taken using the Winning
Time system.
All participants shall receive a transponder that
will be automatically set off at the starting line and shall serve
to monitor regularity at different points of the itinerary.
Any competitors that do not follow the entire itinerary
shall not be given a ranking at the finish.
The organisers shall collect the chip at the finish.
Should any participants drop out or not take part in the race the
chip must be returned to the organisers within two weeks of the
race.
Any participants who do
not return their transponder shall be billed 75 Euros and be disqualified
from the race.
Art 9:
All participants
acknowledge having read and approved the race regulations. Any participants
who do not follow these regulations shall be excluded from the race.
Art 10: AGE CATEGORIES
Participants shall be ranked into 7 categories as follows:
cat. A: 18 to 29 (1984 to 1973)
cat. B: 30 to 39 (1972 to 1963)
cat. C: 40 to 49 (1962 to 1953)
cat. D: 50 to 59 (1952 to 1943)
cat. E: 60 and over (1942 or before)
cat. F: Females - 35 (1967 and after)
cat. G: Females +35 (1966 and before)
The corresponding age is that of 2002 (e.g., cat
A: all those born between 1973 and 1984 included)
Art 11: RANKING
The race shall be timed and will result in several rankings:
- A scratch ranking
- A ranking by scratch and category
- A real ranking
- A real ranking by category
All rankings and a review of the "VELO MAGAZINE -
ETAPE DU TOUR" will be printed in the August 2002 edition of VELO
MAGAZINE and will be available on the Internet: www.letapedutour.com
Checks shall be implemented to guard against any attempts at cheating
at the start of the race, taking another itinerary or being transported
from one point of the race to another.
Art 12: PRIZES
Participants shall be awarded certificates named: GOLD STAGE and
SILVER STAGE according to their performance time.
